Take time to look at the beauty of

Welcome to the New Year – 2010 – have you figured out which way you are going to say it – Twenty Ten or Two thousand ten??? So many decisions we have to make!!

Well – we have made a decision to go ahead with Open House on Saturday, January 16th – 9:00am – 4:00pm. Hopefully the snow will hold off a while, the roads will be clear and maybe even the temperature will be a little warmer than it has been. We will have our annual winter sale of - $1.00 per yard off, $1.75 fat quarters – books, patterns and notions – 20% off.

A new year sometimes means new ways, new ideas and new projects. We will be signing up for January & February classes as well as our block of the month club on Saturday. Pat, Roberta and Jody will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about their upcoming projects.

Roberta will be continuing with her “Snake River” and will schedule that with her students via phone. She has also agreed to help us out later in the spring with our Mystery Quilt Project.

Pat Habenschuss will be returning this session to take us through a contemporary wallhanging project featuring blacks & whites with appliquéd flowers streaming upwards – Tuesdays – 10:00am – 3:00pm January 26th, February 2nd & 9th. Instructor fee - $40.00 – Pattern $9.00 – Beginners & Intermediates

Jody Postalwait will be leading us through our newest Thimbleberry club Village Green. The club meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month – starting on February 20th, March 20th, April 17th – and so on until the end of the year. Sign up soon - as many are returning from last years club. Kits will be $80.00 per trimester – Instructor fee will be $5.00 each session attended.

Irish Chain – A traditional quilt that never goes out of style!! Great for beginners as well as intermedate students. Jody will teach Eleanor Burns method of piecing this all-time favorite. Class begins at 6:00pm – 8:00pm Friday evening – March 5th and 10:00am – 3:00pm on Saturday March 6th and March 27th.

UFO day – Clara Poe challenges everyone to get those unfinished objects out of your sewing room. – Wednesday – January 27th, Feb. 24th, March 31st – 10:00am until 3:00pm. Come out and have some fun while getting those dreaded projects finished –

Neighbors Day – 2nd Thursday of each month – 10:00am – 3:00pm – Millie Clinton has headed this project for many years - Come out and help support needed missions for our community. Millie has half the work done – she has precut the kits – all you do is sew!! Will begin meeting again in February, April, May.

FUTURE PROJECTS: Mystery Quilt – Some love Mysteries – some doesn’t – BUT this one may intrique you to join. We will have the fabrics on display that will be used in this full-queen size project. There will be 6 different “clues” or sessions to this quilt and we will demo each of these on a different Saturday from 10:00am – 12:00pm. We are limiting this “Mystery Quilt” to the first 12 – so be sure to sign up. You will be notified of dates when fabrics arrive (late January – February). Kit - $100.00 - Intermediate

We have Nancy Halvorson’s newest trunk show – Sew Necessary. This book really has some cute sewing accessories – great for sewing rooms as well as gifts for our friends. The trunk show will only be here for this week –however, Kay Taylor has agreed to teach some of the items in the book if there is enough interest!! She will be available to talk to on Saturday – Garden Song fabrics should arrive in February.

****We have received some new Moda fabrics since we’ve been back from our Christmas break -

Creekside Flannels by Holly Taylor – Warm up your sewing room when you start on a project using these browns, tans, greens & golds mingled with bears, pine needles and cabins. In shop now.

Attitude Girls – Mary Englebreit – We have just a few bolts that accompany this hilarious panel that will almost certainly remind us of ourselves and some of our friends!! What can you do with an “attitude” panel?? In shop now.

Nature’s Notebook – April Cornell – 40+ bolts of wonderful blues, soft yellows and creams – showcases her florals and tonals for a great spring project. In shop now.

Love U – Deb Strain – A large collection of baby prints – Pretty pinks, blue sky, grassy greens, rosy reds, sunshine yellows and cloud whites highlights all the flowers, snails, turtles, owls, dots and letters you will need to get ready for all those upcoming baby showers – great to have in our stash for when we need one!! In shop now.

Boutique – Chez Moi – A new designer for our shop takes us out of our “box” with this 35 bolt contemporary collection. Imagine pansies, speckles, blooms, dots and florals all in shades of sky, grass, scarlet and amber coming together in a new spring project - possibly a pieced Butterfly pattern? In shop now

Rouenneries – French General – This collection of reds, greys and taupes has been a hit – Some of this collection is still in the shop – look for the sequel in the coming months.

Eden – Lila Tueller – Another new designer for our shop will certainly lift this dreary cloud from our heads. Bright, cheerful and springy is all that comes to mind when I look at all these pinks & purples. Coming to shop in January.

Martinique – 3 Sisters – One of our “signature” designers has won Cookie Ransons heart with this collection. She was at the shop to preview this with the sales rep and said “JACKET!!!!!” Watch for it to arrive in February – March. Cookie will schedule her class when we have this fabric in. Florals, paisleys, sprigs, hibiscus, picket fence, vines and sundress all are screaming spring in the softest linens, corals, bisque and shell colorways.

Butterfly Garden – Kansas Troubles – Again, another one of my favorites – this designer always blends in with our existing stash – navy, deep reds, golds and plums are always in hot demand – Look at the new patterns already in featuring this new collection.

Aster Manor – 3 sisters; Vine Creek – Kansas Troubles; Blessings- Brannock & Patek are just a few of the newest lines that slipped in just before the holiday seasons. If you haven’t been in – they are definitely worth taking a look at.

As many of you know we have started carrying Kaffe Fassett & Amy Butler’s fabrics. For all you that have been waiting on Amy’s newest line “Love” – it’s in the shop now!

We also still have room on our bus to Pigeon Forge on March 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th. We will be attending a quilt show, 4-5 quilt shops, outlet mall shopping and lots of dining!! Hotel (with continental breakfast), quilt show, 3 evening meals (one dinner show), tips included - $350.00 – call or email for more info.

Well –I realize that this was pretty long-winded but at least everyone is pretty well caught up on what’s going on at the shop – Hope to see you all soon -

Stay Warm & Keep Quilting

Welcome 2010

It is snowing heavy again tonight as I'm sitting here watching out the window. It is really pretty to watch and look at - BUT - I really dread trying to drive to the shop tomorrow. I left early today - about 4:30pm - as I figured most everyone was heading home. Oh well - this is a great opportunity to finish some of those old projects - or start dreaming about some new things to do. I finished a few older projects over Christmas and am anxiously awaiting the new fabric lines coming in. I just received April Cornell's newest line Notebook today - looks like spring - yummy blues and soft yellows. I can't wait to get back and dive into those boxes.

I am planning on Open House on Saturday - January 16th - 9:00am - 3:00pm - will post schedule and list of newest fabrics in a day or so.

Bus trip to Pigeon Forge, TN is still on and we need a few more "quilting buddies" to go with us. We will be leaving on March 9th (Tuesday) and returning on the 12th - (Friday). The cost is $350.00 - which includes hotel (where the quiltshow is being held and they are all double occupancy rooms), 3 evening meals - AppleBarn, Smith Bros. dinner & show, and Old Mill Restaurant. All tips are included as well. We will be stopping at probably four to five different quilt shops - or outlet mall shopping for those that choose that route. We had a wonderful time last year - hope you will come join us - Remember though - we have limited space and rooms so get your check in soon!!

Happy quilting - and consider putting some bindings on those almost finished projects - Sure would be cozy and warm during this snowy weather

Phyllis
